Thursday enevning when I got home from work my wife informed me that a bird had gotten into the chicken pen and couldn't get out. This isn't really a big deal but Pickles(our beagle)who has no problem with the chickens just loves to bark at the doves in the pen because either she knows they don't belong in there or she is trying let us know of the situation. She doesn't even bother with the doves when they land in the yard. So, knowing that I knew what they were I decided to get a picture this time as this has happened about five times before. When I got out there I discovered not one but two doves perched in there. Of course they wanted out and started flying around in there so I let them settle down. I opened the gat and one found it's way out while the other landed on the ground and simply walked right out through one of the fence holes. When I got out there there was a third dove just about to walk into the pen. Funny how they know where to go for good food and fresh water. When I came back inside I couldn't help but remark how "those young doves would sure make a good Dove and Andouille Gumbo". My wife gave me that look. Lol....

D & A Gumbo was one of the best gumbos I ever had years ago. Nate were did those little eggs come from. You could sub some dove eggs for quail eggs. By the way I got the same look from my Misses when I mentioned gumbo while watching the doves in our yard, LOL-JimZ
