This morning I went out to check on my garden and chickens and found a somewhat surprising egg in the nest. I have eight hens and there were seven eggs in the nest. The surprise was that there was a tiny egg the size of a quail egg. I have never seen full grown chickens lay an egg this size before. BTW, I usually have one white egg daily so, I guess that hen hadn't layed her egg yet. Should be there tonight when I get home.

Doves lay lighter color shell eggs although I have found several doves that wandered into the pen while eating the bits of seeds and grains.
I had to get rid of the Easter Egger(Americauna)because the others hens were picking on it. She now lives in north Alabama and is still laying green eggs.

Just a followup on that little egg that was layed. I finally got around to cracking it open to see what was in there. This was the size of the in relation to a teaspoon. I cooked it and this is what was in there. Nothing but the egg white. It still tasted the same as a regular sized egg.
