My grandmother’s recipe for oatmeal bread (aka “The Bread”) is on its second rise in the oven. I recently discovered my ovens have a “bread proof” cycle. You can set them anywhere from 85 - 100 degrees. Comes in very handy on these cold days when the house is cool.
Thank you, JimZ, for reminding me! When I told my husband I was going to bake the bread today, he said he was wondering if I would...all he had to do was speak up! Aargh!

Absolutely! Plenty butter!
And it makes the best turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sammies! Lightly toasted. I had to stop today to buy cranberry sauce specially for lunch tomorrow! Must keep the traditional alive!
