Saturday morning my wife and I were supposed to go to the Lafayette Boudin Cook-Off www.boudincookoff.com/ . Well, we got a later start than we had planned but still went for a nice drive for no other reason than to get away for a few hours and make a few stops along the way. We got on the on the I-10 headed west and stopped in at Bergeron's in Port Allen. There I picked up 2 lbs of smoked boudin to bring home and a few boudin balls for us to snack on.
Next stop was just down the road at Po Folks Produce. This was the deal of the day. They had a bunch of nice fresh produce and we picked up quite a few things that just looked too good not to get.
Here's all what we got and the total for all of this was $12.21. That's over 3 lbs of the freshest green beans I've ever seen at any produce stand. Unbelieveable!! Those eggplants had to be locally grown.
So back on the road we headed to Port Barre' to one of my favorite supermarkets for boudin and other specialties. Bourque's. I always find something you just can't find elsewhere like the jar of pickled mirliton I found today. No pictures of that stuff tonight. It's all in the fridge and I don't feel like taking all of that out right now. We did get some good stuff though. Some of what I'll be grilling tomorrow.
Oh, I did pick up a half pound bag of fresh cracklins at Begeron's and we did snack on some on the drive home.
This is what's left after my son got to them. Lol....
