I went to the freezer this morning looking for for andouille that I thought I had in there and I was out. That's rare for me to be completely out of andouille. This afternoon I decided while out doing a couple of errands to take a quick drive to Laplace to pick up some andouille and tasso.
My two favorites are usually Bailey's and Wayne Jacobs. On the way there I decided to go to the usual top three for that area and do a taste test tomorrow. I went to Bailey's first and got two sticks as well as two packages of their tasso. Now when it comes to tasso I don't think anybody does it better than them. After laeving I traveled all the way over to the other end of the parking lot basically and go to Jacob's. I run in the and get one stick of andouille and as I'm about to leave I spot Sailey's stuffed artichokes. I had to get one of those just like I usually do when I see them. very good! I guess that subject will turn into another friendly argument over who makes the best stuffed artichoke. Lol.....
Alright now I head over to Wayne Jacobs Smokehouse on River Rd. to get some of their andouille and probably some other goody that they make.
I get there and they're closed. Note for anyone heading there on a Saturday. They close at 1:00 pm. It was right about three o'clock when I got there. Damn! That screws up my plan to have a taste test between thos e three tomorrow. Oh well, no big loss at least I have enough andouille to hold me over for a while. I'll have to attempt that another time. And i don't want to freeze what I have and just get WJ's at a later date and then do it. I want all three to be fresh from the stores.
I will still do a little taste test between Bailey's and Jacobs tomorrow and I'll get 4 or 5 others to be my guinea pigs/taste testers so it won't be biased by myself.
