While Uptown dropping off some work I stopped in at the Rouse's on Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas. I picked up the things I needed for something I'm cooking tomorrow evening and decided to check out what they have that's new. While perusing a frozen display case I noticed a rack of venison and then some squab. Wow! thought that was cool and unique. That is until I spotted what I knew had to be snake. That's right Rattlesnake! Okay so I now think that's definitely unique. But wait, I continue to look at what else they have and spot something I never thought I'd see in a supermarket. PYTHON MEAT!! That's not a mistake, I said Python Meat. I never thought about anyone eating python but I guess somebody does. Now all these things are frozen and not fresh so I'm not concerned about where it came from or if it's a "Locally farmed" product. In fact it's not that I wouldn't try rattlesnake but I am certainly NOT buying it to prepare myself. So, now you know when you get a hankering for some python meat you know where to go to get it. Good luck with that!
