This past weekend I went on a Knights of Columbus Retreat at the Maryhill Renewal Center in Pineville Louisiana. Even though on Friday it took over eight hours to travel what is normally just over a three hour drive it was a great weekend. Yes, the cold and wintery blast of freezing temperatures along with rain and sleet(it had snowed before we got to the central Louisiana area)made for a slow trip due to road and bridge closures ahead of us as we made our way there. It brought back memories of the evacuation just before hurricane Katrina. The drive back home was a breeze and we stopped at Poche's in Breaux Bridge for lunch.
Getting to the Retreat Center we could easily see it had snowed and the next morning it was a cold yet beautiful site to see.
Below are some pictures that I took. Saturday Morning
Our Lady of Maryhill Chapel
Up the hill toward the entrance
On the way heading toward the dining hall and meeting room.
The smaller pond icing over.
I think the birds left and went further south.
The bonfire area we used Saturday night.
The bonfire later Saturday evening.
Cabin across the pond
The path from the rooms to the dining and meeting rooms Sunday morning. I think the bonfire we had the night before melted the whole retreat facility. Lol... BTW, the walk is about a 1/4 mile walk each way.
It was a fantastic weekend!!!!
