Last weekend I saw in the Sunday newspaper an article about this weekend's Wildfowl Carver's Show in Mandeville. theadvocate.com/sports/outdoors/7165669-123/decoy-disease Not having spoken with a former co-worker and friend in a while I see he's in the article. I decided to go to the show to see all the beautiful wood carings of mostly ducks and waterfowl as well as other intricately carved works. I wish I had that talent! There was some beautiful and extremely lifelike looking artwork there.
Of course I have to admit that Chris Weaver does some of my favorite work. I took a few of pictures of a couple of my favorites from him yesterday.
This first one is the same piece in the picture for the article in The Advocate newspaper from last week. This is a drake(male)pintail.
The newspaper picture.
This one is a mallard hen.
I have a wood duck pen and ink print Chri drew a while back that I'll have to get a picture of and post later. He says he finally broke down and did a pen and ink drawing of a pelican that I had been after him to draw so I'll have to stop by with a six pack to visit with him and check it out.
